He studied Graphic Design in the University of Costa Rica. He has taken photos, and made drawings and designs for different clients. Iván has experience in illustration with the group of illustrators Gama and has made several exhibitions for the group.

He has worked as a substitute professor of Plastic Arts in the Conbi School and as freelance for several clients. Iván speaks Spanish and English and has studies in French and Japanese.
