He was born in February the 1st, 1940 in Heredia, Costa Rica. He is self-taught painter. He worked as a professor in the Universidad Autónoma de Centroamérica. Since 1984 he teaches painting. He has participated in six individual exhibitions and in 125 collective exhibitions in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Germany, Venezuela, Brazil and the United States.

He has achieved the following prizes or mentions:

1972 - First Prize to the contest which summoned by the Ministerio de Gobernación y la Dirección General de Artes y Letras for the occasion of the first meeting of experts who the Study of the Penitentiary Problems of Latin America.

1978 - Honorary mention in watercolor in Salón Anual de Artes Plásticas en el Museo Nacional de Costa Rica.

1979 - First Prize in oil in the Contest of Heredianos Painters supported by the Association Max Jiménez, with the painting "un amigo".

1979 - First Prize in the contest de la Caja de Ahorro y Préstamo de la Asociación Nacional de Educadores - ANDE - con el óleo " Los Canasteros".

1982- Honorary mention in the Certamen de Cultura

1985 - Gold medal in the Painting Contest 30th Anniversary of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo with his watercolor " Callejón"

1994 - First place of the Great Prize Pifizser V Tribute to the Costa Rican Watercolor with his painting "Entrada".

1996 - Awarded he and its painting school, at the Contest "Los mejores del año 96" of Heredia.

 At the end of the 1980 he made a historical mural on the Province of Heredia for the Banco Anglo de Costa Rica.

His works were selected for the II, III, IV Bienal del Pintura Costarricense de Lachner & Sáenz.

In January, 1987 he exposed, along with five more painters in the Gallery Mays Lyon in Caracas, Venezuela. These painters were selected by the Programa de Ares Plásticas de la Tabacalera Costarricense, S.A. to promote "La nueva pintura de Costa Rica"

In April, 1999 the artist participated in the Primer Certamen Nacional de Pintura "El artista a través de los objetos" en el Salón de Invitados- Children Museum of Costa Rica, Costa Rica.

His works are located in collections of independent institutions and the Government of Costa Rica, as well as in particular collections in our country, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, France, Spain, England, Germany, the Vatican, and Japan.
