Graduated in Plastic Arts from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 1991. Carmen worked at Garnier Advertising Agency, is a photography proffessor at Universidad Veritas, illustrator for the Editorial Tecnológica, and in photography and design for several clients. Later she began to paint with watercolor, oil and acrylic, and achived an honor mention in the Salón Annual de Pintura Marco Aurelio Aguilar in the city of Cartago.

She feels identified with the acrylic because it is useful in the type of painting that she produces, where she finds essential peace through the planes of color with blue, ocher, red, black and white. She participates in different painting contests. In October, 2005, Carmen had her first individual exhibition in the University School of Carthage, CUC.
